reflection
This is my first project engaging in place-making design in the urban community which is a very challenging yet interesting and knowledgeable experience. It is such a major shift from a small-scale pavilion and community centre to a 5 storey community centre within an urban context that makes me utterly bewildered. However, I managed to fulfil the goals that I set for this semester and have understood and accomplished what is needed in this project. I aspire to conduct more in-depth research and achieve a better outcome while enhancing my knowledge and theories of place-making in an urban community in the coming future.
Community Centre for the Creative City
The design is mainly concentrating on the user-spatial relationship and interactions. It is a process of rethinking the urban socio-spatial relationship to mitigate the “left out” and to bring the community to the existing neighbourhood by improving the spatial qualities and experiences through the design of a third place.
