Diagramming Architectural Principles
REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I have developed my understanding of building analysis. I have clearly understood the architectural principles through demonstrating the diagrammatic drawings and model making. As this is my first time studying it, analysing a building to understand the hidden ideas and concept is not easy because, during the process, I could only investigate the surface of it, never exploring deeper. Therefore, by looking at the reading materials and lectures, I have successfully understood the key essence. Besides this project, the reading materials provided by the lecturers are extremely useful. I have acknowledged the meaning of diagrammatic, the types and differences of architectural principles, and the ideas of applying them into the design. Overall, it is an informative and interesting project in which I will apply the knowledge I gained in the upcoming projects.
MAJO House
My group have got MAJO House as the case study. It is designed by Enzo Sartori with an area of 90m2. We conducted a series of background research and found that this building is mainly built with metal frame structures with plaster partitions. As this building is facing towards the mountain, it has been designed with a large scale of glass to enhance the surrounding views. It has a linear circulation with the spatial layout of clustered organization.
