Reflection
This project required me to do a lot of research about Chinese architecture, which is a big challenge to me as researching take me a lot of time to read different articles and paragraphs. When doing the research, I have a hard time ensuring which information is accurate and reliable yet I still manage to complete the assignment. Another challenge to me is that to arrange all the information in an A3 poster therefore it is important to summarize the articles and to extract out only the important points. Traditional Chinese Architecture is one of the oldest architecture, containing countless building typologies and history but they maintain the main construction material, which is the timber even today in some of the villages and few significant timber frame structural systems, such as the "Chuan Dou", "Tai-Liang" and "Cha-Liang" can still be found today especially in the Buddhist temples. Traditional Chinese Architecture attracts me the most among all the other architectural styles due to the interesting history, constructions, features, and architecture components and typologies.
Traditional Chinese Architecture
I did research on traditional Chinese architecture due to my interest in this architecture which I want to learn more about it. Traditional Chinese Architecture has a long history that can be traced back to the neolithic period (Pre 1600BC). Different types of building typologies can be found in this architecture and the main construction of Chinese architecture is timber. In ancient Chinese architecture, the layout and construction of the buildings are based on the Fengshui and yin-yang, which these concepts are still used today.
