Passive Green Building Case Studies Poster & Booklet
reflection
This project broadens my knowledge of passive green strategies, especially in a non-tropical context. By comparing the use of materials and other design considerations such as the building orientation, I have taken the advantage of understanding how every single decision made could actually affect the building in terms of its temperature and views. The site planning and orientation of a building affect its views, the materials used, the facade design, the daylighting and natural ventilation received inside and the landscaping, which all these factors will impact its building's internal and external temperature. Passive green strategies are crucial in today's design projects as it seeks to reduce negative consumption of non-renewable resources, and minimize waste, thus creating healthy, productive environments.
Aemulus at the Runway, Penang vs. The Crystal, London
In a group, we were to choose 2 buildings that integrated with passive green strategies in different climate contexts (Aemulus at the Runway, Penang, Malaysia & The Crystal, London, UK) and conduct a series of comparative studies based on daylighting, facade design, strategic landscaping, site planning and ventilation. Additionally, based upon the criteria, to analyse their spatial quality and experiences.
