Experiencing place

Reflection

This is my very first project that needs to consider the neighbourhood contexts. I am not very good at taking in the surrounding contexts and the town's culture and history into my design, indeed. This is the learning process, as I am doing it step by step even though the outcome is not perfectly perfect, I'm satisfied with what I have completed throughout this semester, at least I have put in my effort and learnings into all my projects.

Understanding the site contexts and one place's history and culture are crucial in designing a building that suits the site. Producing clear drawings and being fluent in presenting the ideas help to enhance the understanding of the design and concept. It is an informative semester and by completing this project, I have gained knowledge in terms of the passive design strategies and the use of materials and structures: How materials bring meanings and textures to a place and the importance of a good structure to buildings.

Overall, I am appreciated from what I have learned this semester and will apply my knowledge to future projects.
