Tropical Solitary Haven

Reflection

When doing this project, I faced many obstacles such as lacking design ideas and my rendering techniques. Yet, I have overcome them time by time as the project goes. There were workshops that happened in this project where we were to share our works with the seniors and get comments from them. They shared their experiences and techniques, gaining a lot from them. It was a great session which is an opportunity to recognise them and listen to their advice. Additionally, I have learnt to analyse a site using a design response vignettes matrix. Based on the site analysis, I am able to produce the site use alternatives. Furthermore, I learned to draw and understand the sectional details and have improved my drawing techniques throughout this module. Also, throughout all the projects, I have improved in showing how the design responds to the users and the site context through diagrams. To sum up, this module has brought me a lot of new experiences and knowledge that I will continue to apply in my future projects.

The Stripes

Due to the pandemic, the lockdown has happened frequently, therefore this project required us to construct a solitary haven for 2 users to stay during the lockdowns. This haven must achieve the basic activities and spaces with spatial experience.

The stripes: a haven that creates light and shadow effect during the day. Stripes shadows overlap on one another, producing interesting elements to the structure. It focuses on the users' privacy whilst maximizing the light and view of the spaces.
